Emergency first aid at work

Key course content:
Demonstrate adult CPR (Cardio pulmonary resuscitation)
Use training-only AED (Automatic External Defibrillator)
Demonstrate secondary survey (checking casualties for injuries)
Demonstrate recovery position (maintaining a safe airway)
Demonstrate effective bandaging
State signs and symptoms of heart attack
Identify signs and symptoms of stroke
Explore signs and symptoms of Diabetes
Carry out effective treatment of choking
 
Course duration: 6 hours

Our first aid courses deal less with the complex detail of medical conditions and concentrate more on the practicalities - recognising the key signs and symptoms of the most common conditions (heart attack, stroke and diabetes) and identifying what you can do to help, 
 
Upon successful completion participants will be issued a certificate (valid for 3 years).

Paediatric first aid 

Key course content:
Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally  
Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
Help a baby or child who is having a seizure
Help a baby or child who is choking

Course duration: 12 hours

Our 12 hour paediatric course can be split over 2 days and allows particpants to explore their responsibilites around reporting child first aid incidents as well as gaining plenty of hands-on practise in the key areas of paediatric first aid.
 
 

Basic first aid skills

Key course content:

Carry out defibrillation using training-only AED
Perform safe airway recovery position
State treatment of minor injuries
Discuss how to recognise and respond to conditions such as heart attack

 
Course duration: 2.5 hours

This course is perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to perform CPR and deal with minor injuries, as well as using an automated external defibrillator (aed).
 
 

Fire safety 

Key course content:
Identify the elements of the fire triangle
State Evacuation procedure (site specific)
Confirm fire hazard awareness
Discuss first aid in relation to burns/smoke inhalation
Explore fire extinguisher types
Demonstrate fire extinguisher use and operation
State classification of fire types

As well as covering key content such as fire extinguisher types and awareness of common fire hazards we will also work with you to ensure our training covers your specific requirements (such as location specific evacuation policies and risk factors).

Food hygiene 

Key course content:
State basic principles of food hygiene
Demonstrate Infection control techniques

Discuss advice and treatment in food poisoning cases
Demonstrate standards of personal hygiene
Explore temperature and the 'danger zone'

Course duration: 5 hours

There are more than 500,000 cases of food poisoning each year in the UK. Many of these cases could be prevented by following the basic principles of food hygiene. Our food hygiene courses are pitched at an ideal entry-level  for those involved in the preparation/delivery or serving of food within their work environment. 

Health & safety

This hands-on course uses true to life spill kit products to allow particpants to experience dealing with simulated blood spillages in a safe learning environment.

Excellent customer service is driven by a positive outlook. This course begins by looking at the thought processes of customers and the service provider and progresses to looking at customer focused language and how to handle complaints effectivley.

Train the trainer

Deliver a micro-teach with feedback

Our 1 day train the trainer course gives participants an introduction to teaching theory as well as allocating time to deliver a micro-teach session based on either a subject of their choice or a work focused subject which they can then go on to teach within their business. Participants will receive lesson plan templates to help them design their own lesson plans post-course.

Nutrition and hydration

This 6 hour moving and handling course allows participants to demonstrate correct moving and handling techniques when moving both inanimate objects and people. This course is also available as a 3 hour course where inaminate object training only is required.

Supporting people living with Dementia

End of life care

Most people express confidence in discussing death and planning for end of life care. This confidence is not always followed up with practical planning though. This course is designed to explore attitudes, beliefs and processes around end of life care.

Medication support

Discuss common medication errors
Complete Medication Administration Records (MAR) sheets

Mental health

In January 2017 the Prime Minister requested an independent review of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. The Stevenson/Farmer review concluded that the UK is facing a much larger mental health challenge than originally thought. This course looks a the duties of employers in relation to supporting those with mental health needs and also looks at ways to boost wellbeing in the workplace.

Epilepsy

Epilepsy can start at any age and there are many different types. Epilepsy affects around 600,000 people in the UK and around 87 people are dignosed with epilepsy in the UK every day. This course explores what can be done to support people living with epilepsy.
